Getting Started
Line Budgeter is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. To use Line Budgeter, you will need to download and install the application on your computer.
Make sure your device meets the minimum operating system requirements before installing and using the Line Budgeter desktop app.
System Requirements
Line Budgeter supports both macOS and Windows platforms. Please review the minimum system requirements below to ensure a smooth experience.
Mac
- Operating System: macOS 14.1 or newer
- Processor: Apple Silicon (M1 or newer),
Intel (2019 or newer) - Memory: 8GB for Apple Silicon (16GB Recommended), 16GB for Intel Systems
- Display Resolution: 1920 x 1080 or higher
PC
- Operating System: Windows 10 (21H2) or newer
- Processor: Intel i5 (2020 or newer)
- Memory: 8GB minimum, 16GB recommended
- Display Resolution: 1920 x 1080 or higher
Check Your System
If you’re unsure of your device specifications, follow the steps below to check your system details:
macOS
Line Budgeter is optimized for Macs with Intel or Apple Silicon processors.
You must be running macOS 14.1 or newer.
- Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Select About This Mac.
- Look for Chip to determine your processor type.
- Look for macOS to check your operating system version.
Windows
- Click the Start button.
- Type
systemin the search bar. - Select System Information from the search results.
- Look for OS Name to check your Windows version.
Download and Install
1. Download Line Budgeter
2. Open the Installer
Select the download link that corresponds with your device. Line Budgeter will download to the location you have configured for downloads. Open the file from your download location.
3. Install the App
macOS
- Double-click Line Budgeter.dmg.
- Drag the Line Budgeter application icon into your Applications folder to install.
- Open Line Budgeter to get started.
Note: Make sure to trash the dmg file after installation.
Windows
- Double-click Line Budgeter.zip to open it.
- Double-click Line Budgeter 2025.exe to install the application.
- Click Start and type
Line. - Select Line Budgeter from the search results to get started.
Note: Make sure to trash the zip file after installation.
Updating the desktop app
We recommend keeping the desktop app updated to the latest available version. If you are not on the latest version, a message will display in the app prompting you to update.
Creating an Account
Now that Line Budgeter is installed, it's time to create an account.
1. Open Line Budgeter and click on Sign Up

2. Click Create Account

3. Enter account details
Enter your user information and press Create Account

Note: A first and last name, valid email and strong password are required to continue.
Note: By creating a user account, you agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
4. Verify your email address
Check the inbox of the email you provided in Step 3, then enter the 6-digit code to verify your address.

Choose a Plan
After creating an account, you will see the plan selection screen. Choose the plan you want to subscribe to and follow the prompts to complete your subscription.

Logging In
To log in to Line Budgeter, start the application, enter the email address and password you used when creating your account, and press ‘Login’.

Upon successful login, you will arrive at the dashboard—your starting point for creating budgets, organizing projects, managing elements, and buying or viewing ratebooks. Learn more about the dashboard.
