Episodes

The Episodes element table allows you to track costs across an entire series, as well as the cost for each individual episode. Unlike traditional Pattern and Amort budgeting processes, Line Budgeter handles episodes within a single budget, giving you full visibility into per-episode expenses without the need for separate budget files.

Key features include:

  • Per-episode cost tracking – Assign costs to individual episodes, making it easy to see where resources are being used.
  • Amortized cost assignment – Spread costs that apply across multiple episodes and allocate them fairly to each episode.
  • Episode analytics – View detailed cost breakdowns and compare episodes to identify trends or outliers.
  • Single-budget management – Manage all episodes within one master budget, simplifying updates and reporting.

The Episodes screen in Element Manager is initially populated based on the selections made during Budget Builder setup. After the budget is created, you can add, edit, and manage Episodes directly from this screen.

Episodes

Working with Episodes

By default, the Episode element table includes two entries:

  • Amort – All budget lines are automatically amortized.
  • Not Amortized – Items assigned to this entry are excluded from amortization.

You can add your own individual episodes and assign costs to them. When a single line is associated with multiple episodes, the line’s value is split evenly among them.

To assign a line to an episode or amortization:

  1. Open the sidebar and go to the Episodes modal.
  2. Select a line or group of lines in the budget detail view.
  3. Choose the episode or amortization entry you want to apply.

Episode List Table

Episodes can be created, edited, or removed directly from the Episode List table in Element Manager.

  3. Update the new Episode with a custom Number and Title.
  4. Enter a Title (optional).
  5. Enter any Notes (optional).
