Associated Reference Lines
Associated Reference Lines allow you to link budget lines to a primary account for comprehensive cost tracking. This feature helps you see the complete financial picture by connecting all related expenses back to a single account.

Use Case
Imagine a crew member with a base labor cost of $30,000. Throughout the budget, they may also incur additional expenses such as:
- Kit rentals
- Cell phone rental
- Hotel accommodations
- Car rental
- Per diem
By associating these costs back to the crew member’s primary line, you gain visibility into their total financial impact, which can be significantly higher than the base labor cost alone.
Viewing Associated Reference Lines
Associated Reference Lines can be viewed in two formats:
Sidebar View (Default)

When viewing an account at the Details level, the sidebar shows:
- Linked reference line
- Description and breadcrumb trail
- Amount and unit
- Subtotal
- Tax and incentive indicators
- Line total
Table View

Reference lines can also appear in a table below the Details table, displaying the full details of each linked line.
To switch between Sidebar View and Table View, go to:
Preferences → View Options and toggle the Show Associated Reference lines in setting for Sidebar or Budget.
