Custom Report
The Custom Report prints just the part of the budget you describe. Examples:
- All cast in Vancouver
- Every line tagged VFX
- Crew smart groups in Prep and Shoot
- Everything for episodes 3 and 4
When someone asks "can you send me just the…", this is the report to use.
How the filters work
In step 1, choose Custom Report. The Report Criteria panel then lists filter groups. Each group only shows items that are actually used in your budget.
| Group | Filters lines by |
|---|---|
| Accounts | Major and minor account |
| Rows | Cast Smart Groups, Crew Smart Groups and Vendor Smart Groups (ticked by default), plus All lines outside smart groups (unticked by default) |
| All Locations | Location |
| All Phases | Phase |
| Episodes | Episode (or Amort) |
| Company Units | Company unit |
| Tags | Tags and set tags |
| Day Types | Day type |
| Tracking | Lines with a value in the ticked tracking column |
| User Defined | Lines with a value in the ticked U1–U5 column |
The rules for combining filters:
- Within a group, any match counts. If you tick Prep and Shoot under Phases, a line from either phase is included.
- Across groups, a line must match every group you've used. If you tick Vancouver under Locations and Shoot under Phases, you get only lines that are in Vancouver and in the Shoot phase.
- A group with nothing ticked doesn't filter anything.
- If you don't tick any accounts, all accounts are searched. So you can build a report from just a tag or a location, without picking accounts first.
The Rows group starts with only the smart-group rows ticked. To include ordinary lines that aren't in a smart group, tick All lines outside smart groups. Otherwise they won't appear.
More options
- Include Transaction Types Lines in Report: limits the report to Labor, Purchases, Rentals, Allowances or Deposits lines. It works the same as the Location Report: the first four are on by default and Deposits is off.
- Report Sections: Include Project Metrics, Include Location Summary and Include Tax & Fringe Summary.
- Account Summary: adds a totals-only listing of the accounts in the report.
- Location Summary Options: Include Phases and Include Day Types.
Output
The report prints a Custom Report section with the matching accounts and lines, followed by the Account Summary if you selected it. It has no topsheet. Column and detail choices from Additional Options still apply.
Check the Preview before you export. If it's empty, your filters are too narrow. The usual causes are two groups that no line matches together, or the Rows filter leaving out lines that aren't in a smart group.
