Session Tracker

The Session Tracker is the small panel at the bottom of the Navigation Sidebar. It answers one question at a glance: how much has this budget moved since I sat down?

What it shows

FieldMeaning
Session StartedThe date and time this editing session began — normally when you opened the budget.
Session TotalThe net amount the budget's total has changed since the session started. Every edit that moves the bottom line — a rate change, an added line, a deleted account — adds or subtracts here.
Last EditThe amount of the single most recent change.

A Changes counter tracks how many edits the session contains.

The three icons

  • Calendar icon (next to Session Started) — opens the budget Calendar.
  • History icon (next to Session Total) — opens the Change Log, where every change in the session (and before it) is listed with who made it and when.
  • Reset icon (next to Last Edit) — resets the session: Session Total and Last Edit return to zero and the clock restarts from now. Use it when you want to measure a specific piece of work ("what did this afternoon's pass cost us?").

Resetting the session only clears the tracker — it never affects the budget or the Change Log.

Goalpost budgets

In a Goalpost (topsheet-only) budget the tracker is repurposed to show the two figures that matter at that stage: Assumption Amount and Local Spend Amount.

Tips

  • Session Total is the fastest sanity check after a batch operation — if a Batch Fringe or Batch Insert run moved the budget more than you expected, you'll see it immediately.
  • In a shared budget, the tracker reflects the changes made in your session; open the Change Log for the full multi-user history.
