The Sidebar is the tool panel on the right edge of every budget. It's a column of icon buttons — hover any icon to see its name — that open compact panels for applying and inspecting data on the lines you've selected, without leaving the grid.

The panels

Default Top group:

PanelWhat it does
Tax & FringesSee and apply taxes/fringes to the selected lines.
TagsApply and review tags.
NotesRead and write notes on the selected line.
Pre FlightWarnings and checks on the budget (missing data, issues to resolve before delivery).
UniversalsApply universal values to lines.

Default Bottom group:

PanelWhat it does
IncentivesSee and apply incentives.
EpisodesAllocate lines across episodes.
Associate ReferenceLink lines to reference lines elsewhere in the budget (Jump Back on the toolbar returns you after following one).
SearchSearch — and search & replace — across the budget.
Heads UpThe Heads Up Display panel (see Heads Up Display & Banner).
Change LogThe budget's change history.

At the very bottom, the Sidebar footer shows a live Selected Total: for whatever cells are highlighted in the grid.

Customizing it

Click the gear button (Customize Side Bar Elements) to open the Customize Sidebar dialog. Drag tools between three lists:

  • Top: — pinned to the top group
  • Bottom: — pinned to the bottom group
  • On The Sideline: — hidden from the Sidebar

RESET DEFAULTS restores the standard arrangement. Your layout is remembered per user.

Popping it out

Every panel has a ↗ (open in new window) button that detaches the Sidebar into its own floating Sidebar window — handy on a second monitor. It stays in sync with the budget; close the window and the panel returns to the docked Sidebar.

Permissions and read-only states

  • In a workspace, the owner can set the Sidebar custom permission per member: Edit (normal) or View Only — the panels open but applying, editing and removing are disabled.
  • The Sidebar also goes read-only when Edit Mode is off, when the budget is locked, for Guests/view-only collaborators, and while a workspace is in read-only billing mode.
  • Individual panels can be plan- or permission-gated (for example, Change Log via its module permission); blocked tools show the standard "Access Limited" message.
